How Much Does Bicycle Insurance Cost?

Simple Bike Insurance values transparency so let’s talk cost

As you probably already know, your renters and homeowners insurance isn’t going to cover your bicycle at full-value and it’s almost certainly not going to cover collision. Take a look at what Simple Bike Insurance covers, and what your other policies will (and won’t).

Comparing Bicycle Insurance To Renters And Homeowners Insurance

Table comparing different types of insurance

There’s a big difference between us and your other carriers, and the difference is that we’re cyclists, too. We understand how each rider is different and why some cyclists prefer to cover a lot or just a little.

Simple Bike Insurance offers instant quotes and custom bicycle insurance packages so you get exactly what you need and aren’t overcharged for limited coverage.

But What About Warranties?

Warranties are good, we like them! They’re a guarantee from your bicycle’s manufacturer to replace faulty parts. Sounds awesome, right? Right … but … a warranty doesn’t cover theft, collision damage, loss, or your riding gear.

Warranties are just a piece of the cycling puzzle – just like registering your bicycle online and investing in a high-quality lock. However, unfortunately, there’s simply no guarantee from your warranty, renters insurance, or homeowners insurance that:

  • Your bicycle will be covered at full-value
  • Your bicycle won’t be stolen
  • You won’t be clipped by a car
  • Weird things happen sometimes

Bike insurance covers all the gaps in between your warranties, other insurance policies, and life – and Simple Bike Insurance does it well.

Simple Bike Insurance Prices & Coverage Costs

Your instant quote is going to depend on several factors like when your bicycle was manufactured, if you bought it new or used, how much you wanted covered, and what kind of bicycle you have.

We always make sure our policies are affordable and easily accessible. So let’s take a look at what you get automatically with each package and the extras you can tack on for a few extra bucks a month.

What You Get Automatically With Our Bicycle Physical Damage Policies

When you become a policyholder with Simple Bike Insurance, you get a lot for your money. We offer protection and benefits covering:

  • Spare parts
  • Riding accessories
  • Cycling apparel
  • Replacement costs
  • Theft from your home (house, condo, apartment, etc.)
  • Theft away from your home (riding to work, cycling around town, etc.)
  • Transit loss or damage (by land or air to and from locations in the United States and Canada)

You’ll get up to $500 in coverage benefits for spare parts and $500 for riding apparel per claim, with a maximum of $1,000 total per policy term. Yeah, we know, it’s awesome.

You choose the value of your bicycle and we’ll cover collision, crash, and vandalism damage up to the limit you choose. We’ll cover repairs and replacements for your bicycle at full-value in case of damage, theft, or loss.

Competitive Cycling Coverage

At no additional cost to competitive riders, you’ll be reimbursed for rental bikes in case your racing bicycle needs repairs, goes missing, or has been otherwise damaged when you’re away from home at an organized riding event.

You’ll be covered up to $250 for each incident to cover rental reimbursements. You’ll be reimbursed up to $500 ($1,000 total per policy term) for nonrefundable pre-paid event entry fees in case you can’t compete or participate because of a covered incident.

Deductibles

Simple Bike Insurance puts you in charge of your insurance premiums and deductibles. This is why you get to choose your deductibles and the options range from $200 to $500.

E-Bike (Electric Bike) Insurance Policies

If your e-bike motor is 750 watts or less, and you don’t use an auxiliary power source, we’ll cover you. If you have a pedal assist, you’re good as long as your top assisted speed is less than 28 mph and you qualify for discounted prices if it’s less than 20 mph.

If you have a throttle assisted e-bike, and your motor is less than 750 watts and top assisted speed is 20 mph or less, we’ve got you covered there, too.

Check your owner’s manual or call your e-bike manufacturer if you have questions about your top assisted speed or how many watts your motor is.

If this is too much to worry about, no problem. All of this is automatically calculated when you get an instant quote with Simple Bike Insurance online. You’ll get to see your monthly payments before you choose to purchase coverage. You’ll also have the option to pay for the year up front to save some extra money.

Check out our FAQ if you have questions about quotes, prices, and coverage. You can also give us a call or contact us online. We’ll walk you through your quote and answer each question you have.
